Question Counting money at the end of the shifts???

Does anyone have a system that speeds this process up for them? This never ending task is getting old. Wondered if there is anything you all use? Sometimes it seems like counting end of the day reports takes the longest in getting out of the bar.

Any suggestions would be great!! TIA!!!

i count from largest bills to smallest, also i never let an employee open a coin roll up unless its absolutly necessary. they make machines that auto count for you but is your time worth what they charge for them???

The machines that Rubicon mentioned are in wide use on the east coast at Arbys corp owned stores, but there has been quite a bit of push back in their use ( they use the weight based counters ). If a bill is ripped or taped it can give a false reading. And by using the machine you loose the ability to actually KNOW whats in that pile. Why? The machine doesnt count it by bill type, simply by weight. So as long as you are SURE it only has $1 bills in that pile, you're fine. But if you mix a $20 up in there by accident it'll throw things off.

Obviously they are not as accurate as the type you'll see in a bank that count them and double check them. Still, they are EXPENSIVE... So, as mentioned above: what is your time worth to you? Thats really what it comes down to for most "convenience" products - its a trade off between money and your time.

Let us know what you decide!
