Default Price of online ordering

Hi guys,
I want to start to offer online ordering for my customers and am interested in a particular service. I want to know what you think about their prices in particular (assume adequate service)

- Up to $25: $1 service fee
- $25 to $50: $1.50 service fee
- $50 to $100: $2.00 service fee
- More than $100: $2.50 service fee

Do you find this reasonable? Is that the normal price?

Thanks for your input

Hi,

I'm a programmer in the process of creating restaurant software. I'm interested in meeting restaurant owners I can work to provide advice for making the system better. If anyone is interested please let me know. I'll work to get you a system you'll love at the best possible price. I've already created a local online order system which offers delivery from chain restaurants. It's at delivertopmenus.com. You can enter zip code 91316 to see stores and view the order system I have so far.

Service charges, also known as convenience fees, are common - especially in the travel industry where they will charge you to make a reservation over the phone but not online.

There is a difference though - the travel industry WANTS you to order online because it reduces their work load. In the restaurant industry, customers WANT this option because they feel its more convenient for them.

I would suggest a quick trade area survey to see what your competitors are charging ( if anyone else provides this service in your area ). But also take into account what your core demographic will pay for this option. Be careful not to price out to many of them - it may end up alienating even your regulars if its seen as gouging.

Good luck and keep us up to date!

ksabit,

Are you using your own online ordering system? You have to take into consideration the credit card processing fee for taking online orders which on average is around 2.9% + the $0.25 per transaction fee. If you're using a third party provider they usually start around 8% + $0.25 per transaction plus text and fax fees and go as high as 20%.

Default online ordering??

I don't know if these prices are inexpensive that this company is charging you, but one thing you should do some research on is the integration the servicer has? does the online ordering software your about to purchase go into the pos system you currently have on your cash registers? Will this ultimately cut the cost of time in your ordering process, and do you have alot of toppings and extras that your employees forget to upsell to the guest. Also, If you live in a high density area then online ordering is definitely a must, in order to stay ontop of the leading competitors, because "well, think about it" how many people are on their smart phones EVERY Stinkin' DAY? i'd say it safe to say 75% of the American population, and to have an ordering application on a mobile phone would be ideal! So make sure you ask those questions and always stay current with the other companies that offer the same product, but with more bang for your buck!

I hope this helps and God Bless on your businesses success!
