This would be the first chain in the U.S. to offer customers healthy, char-broiled Leanburger meal combos, under 10 grams of fat for the entire meal. The concept is based on Lakeshore Food's patent pending Leanburger technology - where, over a period of six years, we developed the first lower fat beef patty capable of successfully char-broiling at temperatures in excess of 1000 degrees F. The invention has an additional benefit of reducing smoke and greenhouse gases emitted during the char-broil process by 75%. The business model of the chain could be set up as a series low cost sandwich shops, (like Subway) with char-broiling accomplished at a central location, with no cooking on site at the restaurants. We have found that once char-broiled, simple microwaving, or warming/defrosting in a conveyor oven does not adversely affect char-broil taste, so it is possible to offer true char-broil taste with a microwave.
