Default Blogs

Does anyone have experience with running a restaurant blog? It sounds like a good thing to do but I'm concerned about having enough content without sounding like a continual ad for the business. Any thoughts?

Thumbs up Good Info

I think it is completely possible to get a good blog going for your restaurant. The question is will you have the time to give it what it needs. You should share some good information for everyone out there. Specials, recipes, events, responses to negative reviews, an inside look at the restaurant dynamics, bio's, photos of dishes, who are your purveyors. A number of good ideas which I myself try to write about on my blog for Aspen Restaurants.

Though we're not a restaurant but a supply company, we've recently made our foray out into the "blogosphere" (internet term not mine haha) and it's been tough initially. We're limited to sale items or new products but personal articles written by our employees and their experiences at work seem to be somewhat popular.

I would also suggest putting menu items or seasonal specials on your blog. An nice picture of your signature item with a brief description of ingredients would be sure to get a potential patron's mouth watering.

Another content builder could be industry news or events. Anything you feel that is related to, or will help, your business should be considered. I'm just now starting to learn that and I've recently seen some increased traffic to our blog/ twitter.

Check out our sites for inspiration but feel free to leave comments.... I'm looking to improve too!

Hope that helped!

Red face Blogs take time

Starting up a blog is pretty easy...the hard part is to constantly update. There are people out that are addicted to blogging and comes very naturally to them. I am not a blogger at all. I do have a blog set up for my particular niche. I look for the best deals possible on restaurant supplies/equipment for restaurant owners.

Check it out...I just started, so please no harsh comments...lol! (Wholesale Restaurant Supply Deals)

Like I said it can be a little frustrating updating your blog, especially when comments are not rolling in. but dont let that hinder you. Your purpose is to provide info and sooner than you think...people will start to appreciate your insight and recommendations.

Be sure to link it your original website (if you have one, of course). That could help out a bit more in regards to building traffic.

Be sure to keep your blog entries interesting and helpful and ORIGINAL. That way, you'll have return visitors!

Not to mention...set up adsense!
